How it works

It just works.

A simple setup. A familiar passcode. No complicated rules or UI to manage & navigate.

  1. 01

    Make it yours.

Install Area51, verify your email, then create your unlock passcode. Numbers, letters, symbols—or a mix.

  2. 02

    Choose your apps.

Find an app and select Set guard. Protect one or select several together. Keep the apps you don’t need out of the list.

  3. 03

    Unlock. Carry on.

Enter your passcode to bring a guarded app back. Your existing tabs and work stay open behind the guard.

Made for the everyday handover

“Can I use your
laptop for a minute?”

Your browser holds a lot of your life: saved passwords, payment details, messages and browsing history. Let someone use your PC without making those open windows part of the conversation.

01

Step away. It relocks.

When your display turns off, your PC sleeps or your Windows session locks, guarded apps need your passcode again.

02

Sharing with the family?

Keep your work apps and open browser out of casual reach while the kids use the rest of the PC. You choose which apps need your passcode.

03

Forgotten passcode? Use your email.

A verified recovery address gives you a way to reset your passcode. Keep access to that mailbox outside the apps you guard.

A look inside

Less to figure out.
More control.

Privacy, without the fine-print surprise

Your passcode stays
on your computer.

Area51 doesn’t upload your passcode, browsing history, documents or app selections. There are no ads or app analytics.

You’ll need internet to verify your email during setup, recover a forgotten passcode and delete your recovery registration. Updates also use a network connection.

Still wondering about something?
Talk to us.

Is Area51 really free?

Yes. There are no subscriptions, ads or paid tiers. Area51 is free proprietary software by Creative Conceptz Solutions LTD.

Can I lock browsers and other Windows apps?

Yes. Choose supported desktop browsers such as Chrome and Edge, along with apps such as WhatsApp. Find the app in Area51 and select Set guard. Your Protected list brings them together, with individual and bulk actions when you need them.

Can I choose exactly which apps to guard?

Yes. Set a guard on the apps you want to keep private and leave the others available. You can change your selection at any time, or hide apps from the list to keep things tidy.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Verification confirms that you can receive a reset passcode before you create your local unlock passcode. After setup, ordinary unlocking works offline. Keep a way to check your recovery mailbox outside the apps you lock.

What happens if I enter the wrong passcode?

Five incorrect local attempts start a five-hour waiting period. If you’ve forgotten your passcode, use the verified-email recovery option. Resetting your passcode doesn’t automatically unlock your apps.

Will it close my existing work?

No. Area51 hides your existing app windows when they lock. Enter your passcode to bring them back and pick up where you left off. Your documents and other applications are left alone.

Does Area51 need to stay running?

Yes. It starts at Windows sign-in and runs in the notification area. Windows can disable startup; Area51 offers a repair or a Windows Settings shortcut while it’s running. It can’t guard apps when it’s closed.

Can I uninstall while offline?

Yes. Use your local passcode, then choose whether to keep your profile for reinstall or remove it with a complete clean uninstall. Neither choice deletes your online recovery registration. Use Delete account in Area51 Settings if you want to remove this installation’s registration too.
